CAN COMAS FARMHOUSE
HISTORIC CENTRE
The Can Comas Farmhouse, which perfectly shows the agricultural nature of Pineda, is now the most cultural element in this town.
Can Comas is the image of the rural world in Pineda in the 17th century. It was the home to one of the oldest families in town, whose origins go back to the 14th century.
The original building, from the beginning of the 17th century, was a 3-storey house, with 3 departments perpendicular to the main façade. Under a gable roof, the garret was used as isolation unit and was home to the household servants. This dwelling, of over 900 sqm, consisted of two buildings, a covered additional building and a courtyard.
The interior original distribution has changed. 400 years ago, however, there was undoubtedly a big hall, and then the kitchen, the living-room, the cellar, the main sleeping-room, the animals stables, the storage rooms, the pit, the irrigation units… And some other areas, such as a mill and a distillery. Obviously, these first well-off farmers became important traders!

We have reached the end of the tour, with a 16th-century masia, which has witnessed many of the changes that have taken place in the town.
The masia has a ground floor and 2 upper floors. It has three sections and a gable roof.
The façade is a visual poem installed by Mariscal in 2006. This now houses the Fundació Tharrats and is occupied by the Council Culture Area.
